FTA® Elute Micro Cards

FTA® Elute Micro Cards provide a convenient, safe way to ship cultures to Accugenix for identification by DNA sequencing. The cards contain a matrix on the surface which works to inactivate microbial organisms by breaking open the cells and leaving only the DNA from the organism on the card. Since it is simply DNA on the card and not a live culture, your sample can be shipped to Accugenix with less hassle than ever. In fact, the use of FTA® Elute cards eliminates the need for classifying your samples as biohazards when shipping. In addition, the cards should be stored and shipped at ambient temperature - so no ice packs are needed for shipping. This method is ideal for both international and domestic shipping.

The FTA® Elute card is appropriate when samples are collected for DNA analysis and the sample needs to be stabilized, transported and archived. The use of FTA® Elute Micro Cards provides many benefits to our customers.

Sample Preparation

Accugenix has developed a fast and easy procedure for inoculating the cards. It is vital that these instructions are followed to ensure that the samples will work with our validated process for eluting the DNA off of the card. This DNA can then be used in our sequencing process to obtain an identification for your sample. The links below will provide you with sample preparation instructions and shipping instructions for submitting samples to Accugenix on FTA® Elute Micro Cards.

Accugenix will provide a Starter Kit to enable you to try out this new process. Please email us at marketing@accugenix.com or call us at 302.292.8888 to request a Starter Kit. (Only one request may be made, as Accugenix has a limited supply of Starter Kits.)

Currently FTA® Elute Micro Cards can only be used for samples that are submitted for identification by DNA sequencing. Accugenix is working to develop a method to allow samples to be submitted for Bacterial Characterization as well. Currently however, Bacterial Characterization requires a live organism for testing.

FTA® Elute is a registered trademark of the Whatman group.
